Registering a new product code/barcode/GTIN

We recommend that you use Chrome or Firefox as your browser when registering a new product code.

1. What do the terms product code and barcode mean?
    * Product code is a unique identifier, GTIN, used in barcodes.
    * Barcode is a machine-readable information carrier that provides a unique identification when scanning a package. The term is used for both one-dimensional linear barcodes (e.g., EAN-13) and two-dimensional barcodes (e.g., 2D DataMatrix).
    * GTINTM (Global Trade Item number) is an international unique identifier used in commerce and issued by GS1.
    * For further information, see the Industry standard for product codes.

6. What do I do when there is the same product code on the Consumer Unit and the inner pack?
    * When the ratio between Consumer Unit and inner pack is 1:1 (e.g., a box contains only one vial), according to the GS1 standard, there can be the same product code on the Consumer Unit and the inner pack.
    * On farmalogg.no, the product code is registered as product code Consumer Unit, but the package level is set as primary level to indicate that the product code is stated on the package closest to the medicinal product.
    * If the product code has already been registered with package level secondary level, notify us by e-mail and we will change it to primary level.
    * Change of package level must be documented with a mock-up of a label where the product code appear either in a machine-readable 2D code or it is inserted as a comment.

7Why is it not possible to register product code for inner pack?
    * The product code for an inner pack can only be registered if the Consumer Unit already is applied with a product code.
    * It is not possible to register a product code to an inner pack if the selected package/product code already is registered with an inner pack product code.
    * If the Consumer Unit contains multiple inner packages with different packaging levels, and there is only a product code on the outer packageing and the smallest package, contact Farmalogg as the packaging levels needs to be manually adjusted.
    * It is not possible to register a product code inner pack if the packaging level for the selected package/product code is the primary level. In this case, contact Farmalogg.
