7. What do the terms product code and barcode mean?
    * Product code: a series of digits, in the GTIN- or NTIN format, used as a unique identifier of products, and presented for electronic readout in a barcode.
    * Barcode: an optical, machine-readable data carrier on the package that provides unique identification upon scanning. The barcode term is used both for one-dimensional, linear barcodes (EAN-13) and two-dimensional barcodes like the 2D Data Matrix.

* GTINTM (Global Trade Item number) is an international unique identifier used in commerce. The GTIN usually consists of 13 digits and contains a country based prefix, the company supplier number, internal reference number and a control digit (modulo-10 calculation).

* NTIN (National Trade Item Number) is a GTIN with a shared Nordic prefix that is owned by NNC (Nordic Number Centre in Finland) used only for medicines with marketing authorization. The NTIN contains the Nordic article number and can only be changed if the article number changes. The NTIN does not distinguish between packages to the same detailed extent as the GTIN, and the NTIN is therefore not always a unique identifier. An article number can only have one NTIN, but multiple GTINs are possible.
